The once a year 8-day
Aarat function usually falls during Jan -Feb period.
Till the fourth day
the Shiveli is during 7. 30am in the morning and finishes by
10 a.m. In the
evening it starts at 6pm and finishes by 8.30 pm.
From the fifth day
onwards there is no evening Shiveli. Instead the deity goes around to its
devotees houses in procession.
On the fifth day it
is taken via East Sannidhi Road
and Gopala Prabhu road and
On the sixth day it
is taken to north of T.D Road
.
On the seventh day it
is taken to T.D West road. After this, the same night, the deity goes for “hunting”
behind the Naga temple on the east side.
On the eighth and
final day after the morning Shiveli, two small boats are brought in procession
and finally put into the temple tank. This is in preparation to take the deity to
the small temple at the centre of the tank for puja and Aarathi, the same night
/ next early morning, the ceremonial flag hoisted on the first day is lowered signaling
the end of this 8 day Aarat function .

- Coconut with shendo (kept shendo
pointing towards us)
- Kanik for deity (kept along with the
coconut)
- Dhakshinas for 2 bhatmams
- Dhakshinas for our guests
- Aarathi
- Two oil lamps
- Fruits as nivediam
- Flowers
- Incense sticks
- Matchbox
- Camphor
